Maria Cardenas, a slightly built and soft-spoken woman, first came to Cy-Fair Helping Hands for assistance over three years ago, looking for food for her family of six. A native of Mexico, Maria struggles to care for her children, Rositas, 21, Solimar, 17, Alonso, 14, and Jesus, 11. With her husband out of work, the CFHH drive-thru food pantry is a welcome supplement to their monthly food supply. Recently, Maria divulged that she was concerned about keeping their food cold, as their refrigerator was going out. A simple Facebook request resulted in a generous donation from Lyndsey and David Theiss of Saye Plumbing and Tamara Hamilton from Just Love Coffee Cafe. “Thank you for helping me and my family! Thank you for the refrigerator! Now, I don’t have to worry about losing the milk. Thank you with all of my heart!”
