Administrative Assistant duties and responsibilities include providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. Supports Executive Director and volunteers through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication. Responsible for confidential and time-sensitive material. Reports to the Executive Director.
Commit to 3 to 6 hours per week for at least 6 months.
Food Donation Driver Volunteers [Immediate Need]
Volunteers are needed to pick up food donations from neighboring grocery stores weekly on a designated Monday or Thursday and deliver the food received to our community food pantry between 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Pick-up locations are typically within a 4 – 7 mile radius from our 9606 Kirkton Drive location. Must be able to lift heavy boxes of meat and produce. On days when the pantry is closed, volunteers will be responsible for delivering, weighing, and storing food independently. A large vehicle (i.e, pick-up truck, van or SUV) is required. Subs are also needed for occasional grocery and Red Barrel donation pick-ups. If you have been looking for opportunities to volunteer in your community and prefer to get an early morning start, this is a great way to contribute!
Day Center Host
Assists with general Day Center operations such as check-in, welcome clients with coffee, donuts, and an invitation to have meaningful conversations. Assure clients know where everything is and what services are available, how to access the service, coordinate recreational activities, crafts, and games. Shifts are Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays from 9:00am – 12:30pm. Reports to the Day Center Manager.
Commit to 3.5 to 7 hours per week.
Coordinates the intake of donated goods including clothing, household items, and food for homeless clients. Sort items, rotate stock, receive and log donations, and maintain inventory. Assists clients in selection of clothing and hygiene items. Packs compassion bags. Reports to the Day Center Manager.
Commit to 3 to 6 hours per week.
Day Center Driver
Drive a specified route in Cy-Fair to pick up 4 to 6 homeless individuals for drop off at Cy-Fair Helping Hands Day Center. After lunch, return the individuals to where they were picked up. Current needs are for Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays between 9:00am – 12:30pm. Drivers are encouraged to join the activities at the day center which includes daily devotionals and lunch at 11:00. Reports to the Day Center Manager.
Commit to 3.5 to 7 hours per week.
Assist clients by assessing their needs and determining eligibility for services provided by Cy-Fair Helping Hands and other agencies. Aid in developing a plan to access available resources. Direct clients in acquiring documents and applying for external benefit services.
Commit 6 to 8 hours per week for at least one year.
Food Pantry Clerk
The Food Pantry Clerk will assist with client registration for our community food pantry drive-thru distribution on Monday, Thursday, and the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9am-1pm. We especially need bilingual Spanish and Vietnamese speaking volunteers.
